The Daily Brothers - The Dream is Dead (TBR05) - The 40 minute album titled, The Dream is Dead, is a lean,
melodic, rocking record distilling what is best about the previous DBs
recordings into one masterful full length. Written and recorded in
fertile bursts from April through December 2011, the DBs pared down
their sometimes ornate productions to focus on electric guitars and
organ to provide the foundation for the rocking pop they have produced.
First single "There She Sits" is an unabashed pop song in the classic
Chris Daily sense. Its strong vocal melody delivers the melancholy tale
of an everyday working woman. "Deja Vu" is one of the fuzziest blasts
the DBs have ever put down. Jeff's guitar-centric tune's inspiration
comes from R.E.M.'s Peter Buck at his most aggro while Chris'
vocalizing hasn't been pushed this hard in the studio ever [see also
"Too Many Hats"]. Surprises on this record include Keegan's trippy vocal
highlight "Hey I'm Alive" and a wonderful organ lead instrumental
composed and performed by brother Matt, "Behold, New Behemoth!" (also
known as "Matt's Song").This tape is the real deal - not to be missed!
